  • Route from the South

From the northbound A1, at Junction 78 take the A696/A167 exit to Jedburgh/ City (Centre). After 0.2 miles, at the Kenton Bar roundabout, take the first exit onto A696. After 2.9 miles, at the roundabout take the 2nd exit and stay on A696. After 0.2 miles, at the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Ponteland Rd/A696. After 0.4 miles, at the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Cheviot View/A696. After 0.9 miles, at the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto North Road. After 2.3 miles, turn left towards Ogle. Kirkley Hall entrance is immediately on the right.

  • Route from the North

From the southbound A1 take the Morpeth exit, A192. Continue on A192 into Morpeth. At traffic signals continue straight on. At roundabout at Market Place turn left (1st exit). At next roundabout turn right and cross river bridge. Continue to mini roundabout. Bear right (3rd exit) towards Newcastle on A197. Continue on A197 to junction with B6524. Turn right towards Belsay. After 2 miles turn left towards Ponteland. After 4 1/2 miles turn right towards Ogle. Kirkley Hall entrance is immediately on the right.

Access to the site.

  • You will be able to access Kirkley Hall from 9 am on the 6th August.
  • On arrival, if camping please choose a pitch and note its number and then go to the Sports Hall to register and collect your Welcome Pack.

If you have booked accommodation on site please continue to the car park then go to the Sports Hall to register, collect your welcome pack and be shown to your room.

  • Although the campus is closed to students, be aware that members of the general public will still have access the site. Please be considerate to other users of the Hall.
  • All participants must leave on Saturday 13th. August by 16:00 hrs. (4.00 pm.)
    We are not able to extend this due to the arrangement we have with Kirkley Hall.

Maps and Route Sheets

OS Landranger maps 1:50 000 numbers 80, 81, 87 and 88 cover the area of all the Rally routes. Detailed maps of cycle paths in South East Northumberland, Newcastle, and North Tyneside will be available at the Rally.

Please print the Rally Route Sheets from the Rally Routes web page.

The Route Sheets also give information about the location of cafes, shops and places of interest.

For those that require them GPX files are also available on the Ride with GPS website. Follow the gps links and you can download the routes in a format to suit your particular device.

Refreshments

Cafes en route have been forewarned of our arrival so, hopefully, they will be well stocked with tea and cake. Most of the routes have a good choice of options for a lunch stop.

Bike Shops.

Kirkley Cycles is just 0.3 miles away from the Rally field. Tim, who owns the shop/café, is happy to assist with bike maintenance issues. The shop is open Tuesday to Saturday 9 am to 5.30 pm.

Bike Storage on site.

Tandems may be stored in the sports hall overnight.

Meals in the restaurant.

Meals must be pre-ordered and paid for. For meals that you have ordered the appropriate tickets will be in your Welcome Pack which you will collect from the Sports Hall when you register.
I have made the following confirmations today, there will be free wi-fi available. We will ensure the details are on display in the Sports hall.
Meals
In addition to the menus on line they will also be happy to offer a salad option each evening and gluten free. You can add or amend your order by e-mailing tcn2016@tandem-club.org.uk and we will make the changes and send a confirmation e-mail
Bookings for meals will close on the 28th of July. Please check your order. 
The Orangery Tea Rooms, part of the campus, are happy to pre order pint bottles of milk during our stay. 
milk costs £0.65p for 1 pint or £1.45 for 2 litres.

Evening Programme

Rally members who have registered but are not staying on site are welcome to attend.

Cycle Jumble

Please have a good look through your old cycling bits and bring along for the cycle jumble on the Sunday evening.

Accommodation

All rooms will have bed linen and 1 pillow.

A kettle, hot plate, fridge and toaster in kitchen but individuals need to provide crockery and cutlery

The majority will be in single rooms as we only had 2 twin rooms available. If you require extra pillows please let the rally team know by email.
