For Sale: Longstaff Tandem, Large - Medium, Good Condition, 1st Class Components

A classic Longstaff tandem in good condition available for sale. Double marathon design frame built with a Reynolds 531 Designer Select tubeset which is beautifully fillet brazed and finished in a pearlescent purple colour, the paintwork is generally excellent with a few minor touch-ups. 

The frame has been built up with the following carefully selected equipment:
Shimano 700c HF08/05 tandem hubs with Mavic/Sun 48 hole rims. Panaracer 700 x 32 tyres.
Arai rear drum brake.
Shimano 3 x 9 speed gearing with indexed front gear lever and XTR mechs.
Shimano brake levers and wide profile cantilever brakes. Additional parking brake on rear wheel.
TA Specialites tandem chainsets, front cranks 175 mm and rear 170 mm. 48/38/24 chainrings and 12-32 9 speed cassette. 
Selle Italia saddles, USE suspension seatpost for stoker.
4 bottle cages.
SKS mudguards and Blackburn rear rack.
3TTT stem and Cinelli front handlebars. The bar tape is being to age and would benefit from replacement.

The photos show the tandem set up for a 6'1" pilot and 5'6" stoker with plenty of adjustment available either way. The frame dimensions are:
Head tube: 22.5 cm
Front seat tube 56.5 cm C-C, 63.5 cm C-T. Saddle height currently 81 cm
Rear seat tube 55.5 cm C-C. Saddle height currently 70 cm
Front top tube 58 cm effective top tube horizontal
Rear top tube 72 cm effective top tube horizontal  

The tandem has been well cared for and much enjoyed. It rides beautifully either loaded or unloaded and is very stable at speed whilst still being nicely manoeuvrable. It's a credit to George Longstaff's design and frame building skills.
