New Year 2006 was held at The Ridgeway YHA, Wantage, Oxfordshire.
This is a very popular hostel located on The Ridgeway National path with amazing views and is run by a warden who is very keen on promoting cycling.
The hostel itself is purpose built, based around a central courtyard and has small rooms, with 6 of these being 4 bedded rooms, which is excellent for UK hostels, as well as 2 larger dormitories. The lounge has a comfortable seating area close to a wood burning stove so everyone will be comfortable.
There were two rides offered each day of about 25 and 40 miles with longer excursions suggested. These were to a point of interest and attempted to get in as many tea stops as possible.
On New Year’s Eve there was a special meal laid on and we had a bonfire at midnight to help us enjoy the start of 2006.
