Echternach Joining instructions and other useful information Rally Reception.


On behalf of Camping Alferweiher The Tandem Club will be responsible for the reception of everyone staying on the camp site including early arrivals. Early arrivals should report to the signed Rally Reception. Please pitch as directed.
Arrivals after Sunday. If no one is present at Rally HQ then find a vacant pitch. Report to Rally reception when open.

Checking in for everyone should be made at Rally HQ in the Marquee.

From Bitburg
Follow E29 through road works approaching Echternach, cross river bridge to roundabout. Take 1st Exit (Right turn) then at next main road Turn Left. At Aral Filling Station turn Left (Camping sign) Take next right (Camping sign) then after 1km. Camp site is on your right. Take 1st entrance and immediately right into rally field. From Luxembourg City Follow N11 into Echternach. At 1st. Traffic lights turn right. Pass Cactus supermarket on your right. Main road then turns sharp right at cross roads. Turn right at Aral Filling Station. (Camping sign). Take next right (Camping sign) then after 1km. Camp site is on your right. Take 1st entrance and immediately right into rally field.

From Diekirch
Follow N19 then N10 (Same road) Signed Echternach. Follow main road into the centre of town and at 2nd set of traffic lights take left hand lane then virtually straight forward (Slight left then right) Pass Cactus supermarket on your right. Main road then turns sharp right at cross roads. Turn right at Aral Filling Station. (Camping sign). Take next right (Camping sign) then after 1km. Camp site is on your right. Take 1st entrance and immediately right into rally field.

From Wasserbillig
Follow N10. Approaching Echternach pass under road bridge and at next Junction turn Left. At Aral Filling Station turn Left (Camping sign) Take next right (Camping sign) then after 1km. Camp site is on your right. Take 1st entrance and immediately right into rally field. If your route comes through Ettelbruck beware of SatNav directions. Travel via Diekirch. Other routes may take you over impossibly narrow, twisty roads.

Note:
The e-lake open air festival takes place over our first weekend and travel is restricted between the Rally site and the Youth Hostel. Approach the Rally from the N10 East of the City.

Campsite notes:
After heavy rain parts of the camp site can become muddy so bring your Wellingtons (Gum boots).
Midges can be a nuisance in the evenings so be prepared with suitable repellent.
No toilet paper is provided in the campsite toilets We will have a supply at Rally Reception for the use of visitors staying off site.
There is no WiFi on site. Details of the nearest site is in the Rally booklet which will be in your rally pack.

The Children's Club will run each morning, except Wednesday, from 8.30 to 9.30.
There will be a Marquee (Party Tent) with a bar available in the evenings. (You may bring your own glasses)

Routes:
Printed route sheets are in the rally packs which you will receive at Rally Reception.
All the routes on bikely ( http://www.bikely.com/listpaths/srchkey/ITR+2010/country/144 ) have been updated so the GPX tracks now agree with the printed route sheets.
Graham Ricketts has been using http://www.gpsies.com/ to convert them to other formats such as .trx used in the Garmin Edge. Search gpsies.com for routes which start in LUXEMBOURG Zip Code L-6412 and reduce the radius of search to 0.5 miles and they come up in the format: Monday medium etc.

Cycling in Germany:
On two days we will be cycling in Germany and Graham Fitch has prepared some notes on cycling on German roads. These are available in a pdf file.

Cycle Jumble:
On Tuesday evening there will be a cycle jumble sale and technical session with someone from the local cycle shop.

Guided walk:
A guided walking tour of Echternach is available on Tuesday evening 6.00 pm starting in the Market Place and lasting 2 hours. There is a maximum party size of 35 and the cost is 60 Euros per party. Please register at Rally Reception for this so that we can make up additional parties of necessary.

Survey: Linda Salentin is a student at the University in Trier, Germany and has asked for our help by completing a survey at the end of the rally. This will contribute towards her diploma thesis on "Bicycle tourism in the Region Mullerthal - Luxembourg's Little Switzerland". She would like the attached questionnaire completed by each person over 14. A copy of her questionnaire is available as a pdf file.

Fuel:
Fuel for your vehicles costs less in Luxembourg so try to arrive with a near empty tank.

Finally:
If you have not already done so don't forget to pay. Unless you are coming from outside the Eurozone, Sterling area or have agreed special payment arrangements.
